Comparison sites are extremely important in the orientation phase of consumer electronics shoppers, both for online and offline purchases. Comparison in effect have become the holders of "the online shelf". However, contact between brands and comparison sites has always been limited to banner deals and brands keep spending the largest chunk of their trade marketing and sales budgets on retailer folders or extra presence on the shopfloor. Vergelijk.nl and Harvest identified "working closer together with brands" as an opportunity and decided to explore this opportunity in 2011 together with a number of pioneering manufacturers, among which Philips and Procter&Gamble. Twinkle has written about this pilot project. Different packages were tested that help shoppers to make a better choice, and the packages have proven to be very effective. Vergelijk.nl has created a menu for brands with effective packages, that it will offer to interested manufacturers in 2012. Harvest will remain involved in this project and help vergelijk.nl to grow this new part of their business to a strong pillar.
